Filippo Alison

Architect and design researcher, from 1962 he spent two years in museums all over the world, houses and warehouses, up to Latvia, with his friend François Burkhardt, former director of the Beaubourg in Paris, sniffing, viewing and cataloguing «masterful» objects abandoned to neglect, lost to collective memory, which were recovered, studied and finally proposed to the public and to modern use.

From 1971 holder of the chair of furniture and Interior Architecture, University of Naples. From 1973 was curator of the re-editions “I Maestri”.  From 1998 he directed the School of Specialization in furnishing and product design at University of Naples.

Gio Ponti

Milanese architect and designer (1891-1979). He graduated from the Polytechnic of Milan, began his activity (1921) in the study of Mino Fiocchi and Emilio Lancia. From 1923 to 1930 he was artistic director of Richard-Ginori; he designed a complete collection awarded at the Paris expo in 1925. In 1927 he joined a production of elite furniture with Domus New, cheap collection for the rebirth. In 1928 he founded Domus Magazine, which he directed, except for a brief interruption, until his death. Since 1933 he has been artistic director of Fontana Arte, for which he creates tables and lamps. He is the standard bearer of Italian design participating as protagonist and supporting the Biennials of Monza, then three years of Milan, the Compasso D'oro Award, and the ADI (association for industrial design).

He collaborates with various artists, including Piero Fornasetti; he created the famous "supeleggera for Cassina" in 1957. The design of bridges is carried out in all fields; since it is impossible to give an exhaustive account, we mention in architecture the Pirelli skyscraper in Milan (1956), for the collaboration with the major companies, the teaching at the faculty of architecture of Milan.

Among the writings: “The Italian house” (1933) and “Loved the Architecture” (1957).

Angelo Mangiarotti

He graduated in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano in 1948 and in 1953 moved to Chicago, where he was Visiting Professor at the Design Institute of the Illinois Institute of Technology.

On his return to Italy, in 1965, he opened a professional studio in Milan together with Bruno Morassutti, with whom he worked until 1960. He is one of the founders of ADI, Association for Industrial Design (1965).

In the field of architecture it distinguishes itself in research on materials and construction techniques, experimenting in particular the possibilities offered by prefabrication techniques and industrial production.

He joins the professional activity of teaching in Italy and abroad, holding courses and conferences in numerous Italian and foreign universities.

In 1989 he opened in Tokyo, together with ten Japanese architects, Io studio Mangiarotti & Associates. In 1990 he was Visiting Professor at the Politecnico di Milano. He outlined the theoretical foundations of his work in the volume In nome dell'architettura (1987). He holds seminars and lectures in numerous European and American universities.

Ambrogio Pozzi

Ambrogio Pozzi was born in 1931 in Varese, Italy. During his University education he attended also at Istituto per la Ceramica in Faenza. After his graduation, he came back to improve glazes and stoneware techniques.Creative, he gained great experience working for important firms in different fields of production, diversifying mass-production design from image projects, always giving great importance both to aesthetics and functionality.

In 1950 starts to design for his paternal factory, Ceramica Franco Pozzi in Gallarate, realizing ceramic, glass, plastic; wood projects. Winning many prizes he had the possibility to make work-travels to Denmark, Sweden, England, France and Germany. Member of international Juries in Faenza, Hannover, Valencia, Lisbon, Politecnic/Milan, etc.

His projects are exposed in many important galleries and museums all over the world, like MOMA of New York. He is coordinator for the Design Section at the Gallery. of Moder Art in Gallarate. He attends to product design and graphic.
