Gabriele Pardi, Tuscan architect born in 1966, and Laura Fiaschi, designer and graphic designer from Carrara, opened their GUMDESIGN studio in Viareggio in 1999. They work in architecture, industrial product design, graphics and art direction for companies and events. Among their current and past customers, the names of important brands stand out: Yoox Net-a-Porter, Fiat, Max & Co, Mercedes-Benz, Venice Biennale, Milan Triennale, De Castelli, De Vecchi Milano 1935, Friul Mosaic, Il Casone, Lavazza, Martinelli Luce, Pecci Museum, Napapijri, Nastro Azzurro, Red Bull Italy, San Pellegrino, Swarovski Italy. Over the years they have received numerous international awards in competitions for architecture, design, graphics and their projects are present in the permanent collections of numerous museums, including: the Milan Triennale, the Glass Museum in Shanghai and the MoMA in San Francisco. From 2009 to 2016 they were included four times in the selection of the Compasso d'Oro ADI Design Index, in the sections of "Business research", "Graphics" and "Design". One of their major projects is La casa di pietra: a traveling exhibition born in 2014 that has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Best Communicator Award 2014 for design and the Woman of Marble Award 2019 received at Marmomac. The goal is to recover the primordial culture of home living, using stone as a symbolic starting point for this rediscovery. In the university field, they hold lectures and workshops collaborating with the Free University of Bolzano, the Cried of Milan, the IED of Florence and Rome, the University of Pisa, the Celsius of Lucca, the Faculty of Architecture of Genoa, the Faculty of Engineering of Trento. Since 2017 they have been coordinators and teachers of the first Master in Design - Innovation and Product for High Craftsmanship at the IED in Florence.
